As for KC std, not sure about higher primary levels, but for P1 not so challenging, perhaps like some parents say,
SA1 papers are usually easier to score, SA2 papers will be more difficult. hi appleberry,
how are you?
SA2 results out.
Contrary to your comment in bold above, my boy's cohort's average mark (and min. mark) for SA2 is higher than SA1.
Probably cos parents
1. brush up their kid's weak areas after reflecting on SA1's results
2. now more experience already.
Went for the PTM. Overheard a mummy reprimanding her kid for doodling on the exam papers. The kid explained that she had checked 'a hundred' times already. Very cute. My boy also doodled on his paper.
My boy not having SA1 next year. Dunno if it will be a good thing cos that means SA2 is 100% weightage.
Hi fz,
I'm well, thank you
I haven't been here for a long time, ha..actually don't even remember making the comment above.
The final marks for her papers are not out yet, she'll probably receive her report card tomorrow. We only have the marks for the written papers for English & Chinese and also full Maths marks.
Yes, the SA2 paper for my girl wasn't more difficult but overall she improved on Maths but her marks in English paper deteriorated. My gal scored lesser marks in her written paper in English and it also didn't help that her SA2 English paper consist of : oral, listening compre, spelling (best of 5 spellings from term 3 & 4), compo writing, authentic tasks, and show & tell, beside written paper. Ha...so many components mean dropping more marks, SA1 only consist of oral, listening compre, spelling & written paper.
Yes, guess you are probably right that the kids brushed up their weak areas after the SA1 results, and was the case for my gal, but I expect her overall Maths results was "pulled down" by her SA1 result. On the other hand, I hope her SA1 english marks will help to "pull up" her overall English result because she did better in her SA1 English paper.
So...it is really difficult to say whether its good or bad to have full 100% weightage on SA2. But we could always use the topical tests results to gauge the kids performance and work on the weaker areas and improved on them.
But not to worry lah, your son is doing well in school, so I believe your son should not have any problems lah.
Cheers..
