Well, Ethan was born on 28 Jul... He came 3 days earlier... Here's how everything went....

26 Jul (Wednesday)
My wife went for the weekly checkup at TPS... Dr Tham said that baby is engaged and had showed some signs of delivery... My wife was 1cm dilated then... But he say, still can wait... He also said that if my wife doesn't give birth by 31 Jul, my wife gotta check in on 1 Aug... (Actually, Dr Tham ask me when I want to induce my baby, in case my baby doesn't come out on time)...

27 Jul (Thursday)
My wife showed some signs of giving birth... Earlier in the morning, she discovered some spotting... However, she said that she was feeling perfectly alright. So she continued to go to work. In the afternoon, she called and said that there are some more spottings, however, there were contractions which she could take it. So she continued to work until the evening, until I went to fetch her. Everything was still alright...

28 Jul (Friday)
5am - My wife discovered that her under garment was totally wet... So, it should be the water bag burst, so she had a quick shower and we left for KKH. Arrived around 6am, and the doctor checked and said that she was 7cm dilated...

Then time passes so slowly, she was only 8cm dilated after 4hrs... Then, she had asmathe attack, then my wife had no choice but to have oxygen and gave up her laughing gas...

12pm - Senior mid-wife told me that my wife was ready to go into 2nd stage of labour, cause she is fully dilated... After pushing for more than an hour, only managed to see baby's hair... Gynae came in time and was ready to do more pushing. I supported my wife's head, another nurse was pushing my wife's tummy, trying to push the baby out while the mid-wife and the doctor offered their body as a support for my wife...

At around 1.20pm, my wife gave birth to a baby boy!!

I don't think they can administer any more pain relief as patrickpang's wife was already 8cm dilated by the time she was off laughing gas. Am i right in this area?

nope, cause she had to use ventolin... so she can only choose one... so during the attack, she gave up the laughing gas... the pain was quite unbearable (can see from her face), but she still managed to tahan...

Hi Papa Patrick,
Happy to hear ur wifey smooth delivery to BB Ethan and everytime, I heard mummies had smooth delivery, I always wanted to cry cos my sis does not have one. Her BB is in the fringe of Life and Death 5 hrs after birth and docs/nurses took 5hrs to stable him before tsfr him to KKH-ICU. But with her & BB strong will, BB is now a healthy 7.2kg 4mths boy....
Sorry a bit out of topic.

Kiddos to all mummies....!
